Explore Study Abroad opportunities from a variety of different language institutes and language related programs of other schools- Due to the numerous programs available, this is not a comprehensive list, but it is a start... Have fun!

Below you will find links to various study abroad organizations and study abroad programs available through schools outside the North Carolina State School system. Each offers a variety of opportunities in numerous Latin American countries, an array of different language institutions, and plenty of non-language related programs and opportunities as well. For further information on these programs, you will need to contact the institution. ¡Pura Vida!

General InformationWebsites for Study Abroad.

  • Studyabroad.com - A good all purpose web for study abroad in Latin America as well as everywhere else in the world! Find links to language institutes, search for a program by country, or simply see what's out there.
  • Studyabroadlinks.com - search for a program by the country, includes links to institutions.
  • Studyabroadexpo.org - an on-line expo of study abroad programs available from universities and language institutes all over the world. Put together by IPSA, this on-line catalog of study abroad programs lets you search for programs by country, language, program type, or subject. On-line applications are available at each virtual stand.
  • National Registration Center for Study Abroad - thousands of universities and language schools have registered their programs with NRCSA. Search for a program by country, language, type of school or school name. Or, use Program Finder to match you with a study abroad program that fits your needs. Includes applications on-line.

Institutes/Organizations.

  • Cultural Experiences Abroad - a good institute for general study abroad, includes programs in Latin America and elsewhere.
  • Centerforstudyabroad.com - this is an on-line "center" for study abroad that is open to people of all ages, student or not. Programs are available through this site. Includes information on academic credit, tuition and fees, applications, housing, transport, visa application and more. This site is perfect for those who don't necessarily want to learn a foreign language.
  • AIFS Study Abroad - this is the web site for the American Institute for Foreign Study, a school open to anyone interested in foreign study abroad or at home. The site includes scholarship opportunities through AIFS, programs offered, faculty information, requirements for acceptance, enrollment on-line, and brochure request form.
  • International Studies Abroad - another good institute for study abroad. The web site includes programs available, what's included, prices, dates, on-line applications, opportunities for high school students and testimonials.

Spanish Language Learning.

  • Spanishabroad.com - specifically oriented to learning the Spanish language, offers a variety of programs in Latin America and Spain.
  • Amerispan.com - Latin American programs in Spanish and Portuguese , intern and work possibilities, non-language educational programs, includes study in the Caribbean and Spain.
  • Forester Institute - Study abroad in Costa Rica! This institute offers Spanish language classes for all. Take classes at the Institute either through UNC-Charlotte or on your own!
  • Enforex - learn the Spanish language in Latin America. This site offers a variety of programs available in almost every country in Latin America. Summer programs are available as well as full year programs. Apply on-line!

Portuguese Language Schools and Programs.
This is a listing of some of the better sites on the web. Please search the general information section for more Portuguese programs.

  • Eurolingua.com - learn Portuguese in Brazil. This interesting site for the Eurolingua Institute gives useful information on programs and language schools available in Brazil
  • Portstudies.umassd.edu - this is the web site for the Center of Portuguese Studies and Culture at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. The page includes programs available in Portuguese studies through the center. It is also a link to specific study abroad opportunities.
  • Diálogo-brazilstudy.com - a Portuguese school in Brazil that offers classes to everyone. The site includes information on the school, maps of Salvador - Bahia, faculty bios, registration, housing and fees info, and various other links to information on Brazil.
  • a2zlanguages.com - great travel resource for language learners. Includes language immersion programs in Portuguese for all types of people (from executive to teenager), information on the application process, academic credit, a photo tour and an actual phone number that you can call and contact a live person with. Program opportunities extend to Portugal.

University opportunities.

  • LANIC Latin American Network Information Center at the University of Texas at Austin - great Latin American resource in general. Lists programs available specific to Latin America some of which are listed here. VERY COMPREHENSIVE! Best site on web for Latin American Study Abroad opportunities.
  • Center for Education Abroad at Arcadia University - includes information on graduate programs in Foreign Studies, testimonials, requirements, information on programs, and an on-line application. Good additional source for programs.
  • University Studies Abroad Consortium - Say no more. A comprehensive listing of University programs for study abroad open to all. Includes listings from foreign universities.
