Dr. Carmen Soliz
Assistant Professor of Latin American History

Carmen Soliz is a historian of Latin American History, with a specific focus on modern Bolivia and the Andes.  She is currently writing a book that examines Bolivian agrarian reform and sees the role that Indians and peasants played in consolidationg one of the most radical and redistributive reforms in Latin America.  Her works focus on peasant politics, agrarian reform, rural state formation, nation building, citizenship and social movements in Latin America.  Professor Soliz received her PhD from New York University in 2014.  She has a Masters Degree in Political Science (Universidad de Salamanca, Spain) and a Masters Degree in Andean Studies (Universidad de la Cordillera, Bolivia).
