Caribbean literature, Latin American Poetry (specifically, "Los independientes del 40" from the Dominican Republic.)
"The Invention of a Political Poet" tentative title of a book project (in Spanish) that explores the poetics of Pedro Mir, National Poet of the Dominican Republic (1984). I argue that Mir's poetry is best understood as an account of internal struggles, rather than external events, that speak about Dominican identitiy, the trauma of living under a dictatorship and the challenges of poetic creation.
